Children Attacked by Dog while Walking Home from School

Dogs are a staple of American life for many families and they hold a place of endearment for still others. Police in Phoenix have confirmed that two young children were injured by an attacking dog as the children walked home from school on Tuesday. The incident occurred near Camelback and 54th Avenue between 3:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. and witnesses state that two dogs were in the area. Reportedly, a three-year-old female and a six-year-old male were walking home from school when the dogs approached the children and one dog bit both kids. Both children sustained bite-related injuries and were transported to an area hospital in serious condition but with both expected to survive.

An investigation into the incident is ongoing at this time and it is not yet clear what action will be taken, if any, against the owner of the dogs, who allegedly is a resident in the area. It is also not clear whether either dog will be taken into custody or euthanized.
