Summer is slowing down in the Valley. Most kids are back in school, rain has been falling this week, and cooler temperatures will be on their way before long. With the annual summer wind down in full swing, many parents are turning their attention to what comes next: fall.
But summer is not over yet and the warm weather continues in much of the greater Phoenix area. As long as it is hot outside, swimming pools in Arizona get plenty of use by adults and children alike who are looking for a break from the heat. And with so many private, semi-private, and public pools in the Valley, those who want to swim do not need to look hard for relief.
Yet while swimming pools can be a wonderful way to enjoy some outdoor time, they also pose a significant threat to safety as it is possible for those of any age to be hurt or killed in a swimming pool accident. Often, it takes only a moment’s lapse in attention for a child to get lost in the shuffle and end up the in water. Or it takes just a split second for someone to get injured in a pool. When tragedy strikes, victims are often left confused, wondering what to do and where to turn.
If a swimming pool accident happens in the Phoenix area, victims may be entitled to financial payment for their damages which often include medical bills and pain and suffering. Their family members and loved ones might also be entitled to help depending on the facts surrounding a specific incident and the damage that was done. If you have experienced a swimming pool incident or drowning in your family, speaking with an experienced personal injury attorney may help you understand whether you have a valid claim, and if so, what relief may be possible in your case.
An incident involving a young child happened in a Gilbert swimming pool on Thursday and it is unclear whether any permanent damage occurred. Officials confirm that they were alerted to an incident at a community pool where a 19-month-old child was found floating in the water, unresponsive. Two adults at the pool helped get the child out and performed CPR while waiting for emergency crews on the scene, and reports indicate that the child did regain consciousness before being taken to an area hospital.
Authorities are still reviewing the facts to determine precisely what happened prior to the child being discovered face-down in the water.
