Another Wrong-Way Car Accident turns Fatal in Arizona

There have been several high-profile car accidents involving a wrong-way driver in Arizona over the last couple of years. Tragically, many of these incidents claimed the lives of people involved and many others resulted in serious, sometimes even permanent injuries. When a motorist drives the wrong way down an Arizona highway, freeway, or local street, that motorist risks not only his or her own safety but the safety of any passengers in that vehicle as well as the drivers and passengers in other cars in the area.

Despite the serious risks that accompany wrong-way driving, these incidents continue to happen and they cost millions of dollars in total damages. From medical expenses to lost wages, pain and suffering to scaring, victims of these collisions may spend a lifetime trying to get back on their feet financially. Fortunately, the laws in Phoenix acknowledge that the innocent should not be responsible for their monetary damages when a collision occurs and they are injured. Instead, victims are entitled to seek financial payment from any at-fault drivers and/or insurance companies that may be involved, enabling those victims to recover the monetary payments they need and deserve.

The first step in determining how to obtain relief from a car accident and the resulting injuries is to determine who is at fault. While it may seem like an easy deduction, in many collisions, it can be incredibly complicated. Some crashes are caused by the negligence of a driver. Others may be caused by a faulty part of the car. Still others can be blamed on a bar or tavern that served a motorist too much alcohol. When in doubt, it is wise to speak with a personal injury attorney in the Phoenix area who has experience helping car accident victims so that your rights will be protected and so that all parties who bear the blame will be held liable for their actions.

Unfortunately, a collision in Pinal County proved to be fatal, according to local police who responded to the scene. The incident occurred on Friday night on Interstate 8 west of Stanfield and officials believe that a wrong-way driver may have been involved. At this time, it appears that a male motorist was operating a pickup truck in the wrong direction on I-8 when he came upon a second vehicle, colliding with that car in a head-on crash. The impact claimed the life of the pickup driver and left two males in the second vehicle with serious injuries. A third male was in the second vehicle and it is unclear whether he was harmed in the crash.

Authorities are still attempting to piece together the factors that led to the crash and are reviewing whether any additional issues, including impairment, played a role.
